17 | | -
Sim: FS24. Dreamflight Studios has provided an update on two of its airport projects, starting with a first proper look at Teterboro V2, followed by a clarification on the status of Guanacaste V2, both of which appear to have grown well beyond their original scope. Starting with Teterboro, the developer has revealed that a full V2 rebuild is on the way, marking six years since the original release. Rather than iterating on the existing version, Dreamflight has rebuilt the airport entirely from the ground up, aiming to bring it in line with its current standards. It will include upgraded textures, reworked models, and a more cohesive overall build across the airport. Teterboro’s role as a major business aviation hub just outside New York City is also worth mentioning, with Dreamflight highlighting seven fully recreated FBOs, each with detailed interiors. We do not yet have a release date for the project, but it looks to be shaping up nicely. You can watch a preview stream of the scenery below: In a separate post, Dreamflight addressed MRLBv2, confirming that the project is still in active development after a period of silence. What was initially planned as a smaller update has since evolved into a full rebuild, after the team revisited the original assets and found they no longer met the quality level of their newer work. This shift explains Dreamflight’s silence, with the developer acknowledging the communication gap while noting that progress is now well underway. According to Dreamflight, MRLBv2 is “not far away” and will be released as a free update for existing users. 26 | | -
Sim: X-Plane. SoFly has announced its first release in the X-Plane ecosystem, confirming that Cardiff Airport (EGFF) is in development for X-Plane 12. The project is being developed in collaboration with Sun Studios and is based on SoFly’s existing rendition of Cardiff for MSFS, now brought across and adapted for Laminar’s platform. The developer says the airport has been reworked to take advantage of XP12’s lighting and weather systems, with a focus on making the environment feel more reactive to conditions. SoFly highlights dynamic surfaces across the airport, including wet taxiways during rain, and snow accumulation affecting ground equipment and vehicles when conditions call for it. The scenery aims to reflect the current real-world layout, coming with updated textures and refined modelling throughout. The developer points to several smaller details around the field, including the British Airways maintenance hangar. Multiple stands will also feature SAM jetways. SoFly has not provided a confirmed price or exact release date, though both are expected to follow soon, alongside a full trailer. Read the full press release here. 35 | | -
Sim: FS24. Sim Design Group has recently released Sphinx International Airport (HESX), located just outside Cairo and minutes from the Giza Pyramids, for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, bringing one of Egypt’s newest airports into the sim. As a gateway to one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world, Giza Sphinx offers a bit of a different flying experience compared to its busier siblings across Egypt, serving a lot of low-cost traffic, private aviation, and short-haul operations. The scenery includes a fully modelled terminal and surrounding airport buildings that match the real-world architecture, proportions, and materials. It is built on an accurate layout based on current data, covering runway geometry, taxiways, apron structure, and parking stands. Custom textures have been used across the airfield, with visible wear, surface variation, and various markings. Custom night lighting and a custom GSX profile is also included. Sphinx International Airport is now available for $16.28 USD, and is compatible with both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. 152 | 125 |
Sim: X-Plane. Flight Panels has continued its investment into the X-Plane 12 platform, now launching a set of Stream Deck profiles for the ToLiss Airbus A320neo, following the original X-Plane launch in March for the Zibo 737-800X and Cessna 172. As Flight Panels is known for, this plugin allows Elgato Stream Deck hardware to function as a cockpit interface, replacing your mouse and keyboard inputs with touch-screen buttons, rotary dials, and similar. The ToLiss A320neo pack includes two separate profiles, one for the full aircraft and the other for the autopilot. The full aircraft profile features over 600 custom-designed controls across 24 pages. It covers a wide portion of the aircraft, including overhead, comms panel, navigation, lighting, TCAS, weather radar, fire protection, and audio. Both 15-key and 32-key layouts are included. The larger layout supports the Stream Deck XL, mobile variants and Corsair’s Xeneon Edge, while the smaller layout is built for the Stream Deck MK.2 and similar devices. The autopilot profile is designed specifically for the Stream Deck +, leveraging the rotary dials and touchscreen. Here you can change your typical autopilot parameters, including heading, altitude, vertical speed, and also the radio frequencies, with the values updating as the dials are turned. Both profiles are now available through the Flight Panels store and selected third-party marketplaces. | 134 | +
Sim: DCS. Eagle Dynamics has opened pre-orders for the upcoming Grinelli Designs F-100D Super Sabre, a new Cold War-era aircraft for Digital Combat Simulator. It is scheduled for full release later this month, after a development period of more than three years. The F-100D, sometimes referred to as the “Hun”, is notable in aviation history. Entering service in the mid-1950s, it became the first United States fighter capable of sustained supersonic level flight, a huge step forward over earlier jet models. Over time, its role shifted from air superiority to strike and close air support, especially during the Vietnam War, when it frequently operated against MiG-17s and under heavy anti-aircraft fire. Grinnelli Designs has built a fully interactive cockpit with a detailed external model, along with systems and avionics modelled in great detail. The flight model, tested against real-world data and pilot feedback, aims to replicate the F-100’s demanding handling, including its many quirks. One of the quirks simulated, the so-called “Sabre Dance”, is a low-speed instability phenomenon, caused by aerodynamic and control limitations, something that made the real jet very unforgiving in unsteady hands. Some later upgrades tried to mitigate the issue, including the “Project High Wire” improvements, but the aircraft remained challenging to fly, and this carries over into Grinnelli’s recreation for DCS. On systems, the F-100D features a fully simulated electrical and hydraulic system, detailed engine modelling with compressor stalls and accurate afterburner behaviour, early-generation avionics suites, including TACAN, ADF, and radar warning equipment. The RHAW system, for example, is modelled to detect and interpret various radar threats, providing the pilot with feedback similar to facing surface-to-air missiles. The aircraft can carry four 20 mm cannons, also supports AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, and can be configured with a wide range of air-to-ground ordnance, including bombs, rockets, napalm, and the AGM-45 Shrike for anti-radiation missions. Also included is the fire control system, which can assist during dogfights and bombing runs. Grinnelli has also included a slightly unusual feature, the Zero-Length Launch, or ZELL. This system provides nothing less than a rocket-assisted takeoff, enabling the aircraft to be launched from a stationary platform, using a solid rocket booster. Hence, you do not need a runway. The concept was first tested in 1958, when an F-100D accelerated to flight speed in about 4 seconds under about 4 G. It never saw further daylight in operation, but is nonetheless included in the Grinnelli Designs version. Key Features of the DCS: F-100D Super Sabre: Pre-orders for the Grinnelli Designs F-100D Super Sabre are now live on the DCS E-Shop, with a 30% discount available ahead of release. Grinelli Designs provides a "progress tracker" on their website, allowing you to track development. They also have a news blog. | 143 | +
Sim: FS24. TriTriSim’s GFX Airliner has now been released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, an addon that adds physics-driven atmospheric effects to the sim. As a visual enhancement tool, GFX Airliner adds environmental and aerodynamic effects that the default simulator either lacks entirely or handles only in a limited fashion. TriTriSim says the package uses its own real-time CFD-driven calculations to determine when effects should appear, basing them on live aircraft and atmospheric data. The system reacts to conditions such as humidity, pressure, air density, speed, and angle of attack, with effects appearing only when the environment would realistically permit them. A Cinematic Mode allows these variables to be overridden manually. At launch, GFX Airliner includes a range of effects, many of which have been custom-built for supported aircraft. These include engine cold-start smoke and vapour burn-off, jet blast interacting with rain contamination, water trails from landing gear on wet runways, wingtip and flap vortices, engine intake condensation, wing surface condensation, wing fade through cloud layers, volumetric contrails, and AI traffic contrails. The addon runs natively through WebAssembly, with no external application required, and installs via drag-and-drop. It is compatible with the Asobo A320neo, FlyByWire A320neo/A380, Fenix family, a range of iniBuilds airliners, PMDG’s jet fleet, TFDi’s MD11, the ToLiss A340 and iFly 737 MAX. Unsupported aircraft use a generic effects implementation. TriTriSim notes that GFX Airliner is fully compatible with third-party weather engines, including ActiveSky, as the add-on does not interfere with weather injection. GFX Airliner is available now for an introductory price of $14.99, before increasing to its regular $19.99 price at a later date.
