Will leaving the proxy in your package.json file break production?

I use the proxy feature in the package.json file when doing local development. However, in production I do not need the proxy at all. If I leave the proxy in the package json file will it break the production app / is that an okay practice?

I don't think it will. It only has effect in development.

Keep in mind that proxy only has effect in development (with npm start), and it is up to you to ensure that URLs like /api/todos point to the right thing in production. You don’t have to use the /api prefix. Any unrecognised request without a text/html accept header will be redirected to the specified proxy.
