tech ref chap 7 equation order

In the current Tech Ref a footnote was added to the start of Chapter 7 which breaks the equation numbering. Searching for a solution and it doesn't look like there is a good one and maybe just have the three equations in a row in the text?

I assume one cannot change this numbering strategy because it's possible that the footnote appears on one page and the subsequent equations on the next. The reason I added these equations in the footnote is because I find it difficult sometimes to wade through variations of the same equation. Heat transfer texts are particularly bad. Is this causing somthing to break or making navigation a problem?

I think it has the potential to be confusing to have the first eq on the page be 7-2. There is a footnotemark command or something like that which allows for the footnote text for the mark to be later in the file.

How about just \notag the footnote equation?

Fine with me to just leave off the Eq number in the footnote. I think it's pretty clear that these are just variations of the first eq.
