Discussion on the needs for the Toolbox2

This issue is dedicated to the documentation of the users needs with the Toolbox2

From a discussion with @valamercery on the 14.01.2025, the first step is to identify the use cases that would serve as the basis for discussion. We identified the following use cases:

• Manual production of information
  • Create new objects and their properties
  • Connect the data created with other repositories
  • Differentiate sources and entities?
• Import of data (would this be in the Toolbox2?)
  • Enrich data that has been imported
• Text creation and annotation
  • Create new texts, in different languages
  • Link a specific set of characters to an object
• Management of project
  • Manually edit the title and description of the project
  • Manage the members of a project
  • Ontology/Profile management
• Vocabulary management
  • Import of (or connect to) external vocabularies
  • Creation and management of vocabulary terms
• Data exploration
  • Navigate in the Knowledge Graph (with visualisations: tables, graphs, diagrams, maps, etc.)
  • Do queries (select a specific set of information, such as the list of persons, functions, etc.)
  • Entity card (what are the attributes you can see)
• Data exportation
  • Linked to data queries?
  • Export in different formats
• Image management
  • Image import or external repositories (such as IIIF)
  • Image description
  • Image annotation

Hi, thanks for all the work you've done. Of course this is huge, with a lot of new features. Nothing to say, as a roadmap in the middle run, but should we then have another thread, perhaps in a conversation, for the minimal features that users need today?

We would also need, in the same minimalist perspective, mockups (drawings) of what a basic GUI should look like. Starting with the basic features, of course.

Features Needed: What should be in the MVP

• Manual production of information:

  • Create new objects and their properties
  • Differentiate sources and entities (and vocabularies)
  • Connect the data created with other repositories (same as)

• Data exploration:

  • Navigate in the Knowledge Graph: lists
  • Search bar
  • Entity card (what are the attributes you can see, with not just direct properties but also connected information: birth to place and dates)

• Management of project:

  • Ontology/Profile management

Features Important: What should be prioritized after the MVP

• Data creation:

  • Filter in the Add bar (and other filters elsewhere?)

• Text creation and annotation

  • Create new texts, in different languages
  • Link a specific set of characters to an object

• Data exploration

  • Navigate in the Knowledge Graph: configurable tables
  • Navigate in the Knowledge Graph: graphs, diagrams, maps, etc.
  • Do queries (select a specific set of information, such as the list of persons, functions, etc.) with export of results
  • Advanced search bars (search where: labels, names, etc.)

• Project configuration:

  • reorganize the entity card by projects
  • select what can be created

Features Nice-to-have: What we can plan for the future

• Manual production of information

  • Connect the data created with other repositories (reuse URI, in the GV fashion)

• Import of data (would this be in the Toolbox2?)

  • Enrich data that has been imported

• Management of project

  • Manually edit the title and description of the project
  • Manage the members of a project

• Vocabulary management

  • Import of (or connect to) external vocabularies

• Data exportation

  • Export in different formats (JSON, CSV, RDF, etc.), either a query or the whole KG.
