Hi,
I’d like to request support for using external storage on the Raspberry Pi.
The Pi is capable of running multiple drives simultaneously when using powered adapters, such as the official supply combined with an additional charging brick.
Even without additional power, the Raspberry Pi can still handle one external drive or USB storage device.
Currently, I’ve been modifying fstab to mount the external drive inside the /home directory so I can access it through the file explorer. I then share that folder over SMB, allowing me to select it on the backup page and save backups there
Native external storage support would make this process much easier and not require me to mount it via the Terminal every time i plug a usb into my server.
