Harmonise running mode of the various test config files in the examples

For automation purposes (e.g. our smoke tests), it would be best to harmonise the running mode (mode and ncores) in all test configuration files in the various examples.

Now the number of cores defined is heterogeneous, meaning varying amount of computational resources will be used.
