GridDataProviderRequest has no filters?

As far as I can tell GridDataProviderRequest doesn't know about filters.
Therefore there is no possibility of having the filters translated via IQueryable to SQL?

Filtering is not a built-in feature of HxGrid, so you'll need to implement both the filtering UI and logic yourself.
