can't start hyprpaper, even with correct syntax in config

after the recent 0.8.0 update, i changed my config to match the new syntax, and get these errors when i try to run hyprpaper:

Config error in file /home/cass/.config/hypr/hyprpaper.conf at line 2: config option <wallpaper:monitor> does not exist.
Config error in file /home/cass/.config/hypr/hyprpaper.conf at line 3: config option <wallpaper:path> does not exist.

here is my config:

wallpaper {
    monitor = 
    path = ~/.config/hypr/assets/plain.png
}

hyprpaper version is 0.8.1
hyprland version is 0.53.0
running endeavourOS

what did your config look like before? did you just remove the monitor id? (or whatver you call it)

I removed the line: splash = false

I'm having a similar issue. I'm using home-manager to install and run Hyprland and hyprpaper (on Ubuntu 22.04 - I know, it's old, but it's a notebook from work!). Last week, when the new Hyprland 0.53 hit nix-unstable (and hyprpaper was still in 0.7.x), everything worked fine, because I ran hyprpaper with IPC off.

Now, this week the new 0.8.1 hyprpaper version was installed, but I can't get it to display anything.

I updated my config:

  path=~/Imagens/wallpapers/mocha-waves.jpg
  fit_mode=cover
}
splash = false
ipc = false

And hyprpaper seems to be running fine:

I don't know if this could be related to my old Ubuntu version, but since I'm installing via Nix with home-manager, I'm not considering it to be the problem. But I don't know where should I go next to debug it.

In case someone arrives here later: it was an issue with the older kernel on Ubuntu 22.04. Today the 'new' 6.8 kernel just arrived and hyprpaper worked fine after installing it.

Having similar issues but on x86. Loading the background image from the Nix store. When I point to a random jpg in my ~/Pictures folder it somehow works? No meaningful logging (as far as I can tell). Stopped working after upgrading to 0.8 version. (Hyprland 0.53.1 & kernel 6.18.4)
