Changing git author setup

Hi,
So I'm a total ditz and realized that when I initially set git up on my computer, I kept the name "Minnie Mouse" just like on the instructions. Is there a way to go back and fix this, even if I have already connected my local git to my github repository and all that fun thing-a-majig? Or will it mess up the paths and just cause me to cry?

I can't imagine it'll cause any problems... it just means any previous commits will show that they were committed by Minnie Mouse, and all your subsequent ones will have your real name. If you just run git config --global user.name "Lady Katrina..." it should change it just fine.

@bseitz234 Ok thank you!! I'm so new to GIT that I just don't want to make a mistake that will throw off the whole entirety of everything, basically. I'm afraid of permanent non-reversible changes!!

PS: How do you make that grey box show around "git config--..." ?

@klarraga, Don't be afraid of making mistakes at this stage! At this point, worst case is that you just start again and just get more practice with the typical workflow :).

To format code in markdown (not Rmarkdown) you can do

git config --

Or put the code inline (the same formatting as is found on the Rmarkdown cheatsheet)
