Markdown heading levels are transferred one level too deep to MS Word

This is a paragraph under the subsubsection.

Output using MS Word with reference-doc looks like this with heading one level to deep :

MS Word dotx contains preset formats for document title (top heading level) as well as for heading level one, two, three and four.

I would expect it to look like this:

Do I get something wrong? Did anybody experience this behaviour too?

What you want is --shift-heading-level-by=-1. This will shift the level-1 heading to a title and move the others up.

Or, use a source like this:

---
title: Document title
...

# Section 1

etc.
