Numbers only design simplifications?

Hello! I only want to do 0-9 instead of the including all of the letters (creating a scoreboard). This will allow me to shrink the drum quite a bit. What other simplifications can I make because of this?

Yeah, my only experience with 3D modeling is from college course 10 years ago so will be fun :)

My goal is to make the digits larger (maybe 5in height let's say), and shrink the drum down accordingly. Other goal is to remove the need to have a gear ratio for the stepper motor am willing to buy a more expensive stepper motor. This will hopefully reduce a failure point.

This is a scoreboard for beach volleyball so I will do my best to keep sand out but it has a way of getting in everything. Removing as many failure points as possible will probably be necessary.
