Why ChronoGPS exists (Design Philosophy & Admin privilege)
It started with a simple thought: “Time sync should not be this painful.” 😅

If you use digital modes like FT8, you already know the truth: a drift of just 0.1–0.2 seconds can be the difference between a clean decode and absolute silence. While many tools exist, real-world shack environments are rarely ideal. I needed something that could handle:

🌐 Restricted Networks: VPNs, corporate LANs, or restrictive routers.

📶 Unstable Connectivity: Shack PCs that are offline for days or rely on patchy Wi-Fi.

🧭 High-Trust Sources: Users who trust GNSS (GPS/Galileo/etc.) more than random NTP pools.

🧪 Intentional Offsets: The ability to shift time in precise 0.1s steps for testing.

🧠 The "Admin Rights" Reality Check
One of the biggest frustrations in Windows time-syncing is the ambiguity around permissions. I wanted to be honest about how Windows works.

⚠️ On Windows, a normal user process cannot directly change the system clock.

If an application claims to adjust the system time without an admin prompt, it is always performing a "privileged" operation behind the scenes (e.g., via background services or w32time). ChronoGPS does not hide this boundary.

🧵 Stability by Design: Properly separated background worker threads. No UI freezes, no weird crashes.

🎯 Ham-Radio First: 0.1s offsets for FT8, satellite info, and grid locator.

🧊 Honest Permission Handling: If run without admin rights, it switches to “Monitor-Only Mode.” No fake success. No silent failure.

ChronoGPS を作った理由（日本語）
時刻同期ツールは世の中にたくさんあります。NTP、GPS、FT8向け…正直「もう十分揃っている」ようにも見えます。それでも ChronoGPS を作ったのは、**「ちゃんとした仕組みで、ちゃんと説明できる時刻同期ツールが欲しかった」**からです。

「非管理者でも時刻が合う」その裏側👀
よく見かける「管理者権限なしで動作します」というツール。開発者の視点で見ると、ここには必ず何らかのカラクリがあります。実際はバックグラウンドでサービスを動かしていたり、Windows標準の w32time に丸投げしていたりすることがほとんどです。

つまり、✅「非管理者で時刻を変えている」のではなく、✅「どこかで管理者権限を使っている」のが現実です。

OSのルールを正面から守るという選択🧭
Windowsでシステム時刻を変更するのは明確に特権操作です。ChronoGPS はここを誤魔化さない方針にしました。

管理者で起動 → GPS/NTPでシステムを校正します。

非管理者で起動 → 高精度なモニタ専用モードとして動作します。

少し不器用に見えるかもしれませんが、嘘のない挙動にしたかったのです。

「精度が高い」より「説明できる」ほうが大事でした🧪
目的はミリ秒を詰めたいだけではありません。**「なぜこの値になるのかを、あとから自分で説明できる」**ことが重要でした。FT8のように0.1秒が意味を持つ世界では、「合っている気がする」では足りないからです。

このツールは誰のためのものか🎯

Interval Sync (Weak Sync) is intentionally conservative:
it monitors drift and corrects the clock only when necessary,
avoiding unnecessary jitter injection into the OS clock.
