Controller doesn't use log.dir option in controller.properties and uses the option that has been set in server.properties in docker version 4.0.0.-rc4

When trying to persist data of controller and broker nodes I figured that data of controller is not mounted in /tmp/kraft-controller-logs which has been defined in controller.properties .
It was writing controller data and logs into /tmp/kafka-logs which is ment to be for broker.

I didin't get it your problem but:

Kafka's default log directory is /tmp/kafka-logs. if you did set or not, kafka will use these path. For this reaons, you need to set it in controller.properties:

log.dirs=/set/to/path

Also, you mention docker deployment: make sure docker using controller.properties not server.properties. I have made this mistake many times :)

docker logs kafka_container_name | grep logs
