Thanks again for all your hard work!

I'm just starting collaborating with a new support worker and we might be wanting to record sessions so I can split up and post on social media.

Whenever I've investigated recording video calls previously I've hit problems because I'm hosting on my raspberry pi on a BT (now EE) connection which doesn't have a static IP, and in order for me to get a static IP I'd have to double my current bill. Serving websites hasn't been a problem using various services, however, the same approach hasn't worked for this.

I'm thinking I might be able to use quicktime to record the screen (might interfere with mic I guess). Or even just aim my phone camera at the screen, but I was wondering if it's going to be possible to record presence calls cos I absolutely love presence! I mostly use jitsi cos it's quick but it's front-end heavy so not very performant, and although I've played with bigbluebutton I find it's a big beast. jitsi on matrix is what I almost got running on my pi.

Sadly my support worker has a Windoze laptop so may not even get it working but fingers crossed it'll work!

I spent some time looking into possible approaches to recording calls a while ago but unfortunately it seemed rather non-trivial...so I can't promise to get that working soon unfortunately. On Linux I'm using Kazam for screen recordings which seems quite okay but it sounds like you're on a mac.

Thanks - with a lot of these I guess "feature requests", I learned over the years to post them so anyone else with similar requirements can see there's others to connect with so have no expectation of solutions just in case it comes across that way because no doubt I'm going to be posting more soon! I found when I didn't post, a year on ten different solutions would suddenly appear, which is both great and not so great. Anyway, will report back any progress!

I'm also just noting here for the record and possible future implementation attempts that there seems to be this unfortunate fundamental limitation on macos: https://www.electronjs.org/docs/latest/api/desktop-capturer#caveats

navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia does not work on macOS for audio capture due to a fundamental limitation whereby apps that want to access the system's audio require a signed kernel extension. Chromium, and by extension Electron, does not provide this.

It is possible to circumvent this limitation by capturing system audio with another macOS app like Soundflower and passing it through a virtual audio input device. This virtual device can then be queried with navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia.
