Problem or Use Case
When I'm doing a series of various prints but all of which use a particular filament it would be nice if there were a way to ensure I'm using the available filament most efficiently. Say I have 6 prints that use a total of 800 grams, I'd like bambuddy to help with ordering the prints so that I'm left with as little "leftover" from a spool before needing to replace it to continue printing.
Proposed Solution
Thoughts but not wedded to any:
- in the print queue, have a button for "optimize filament usage" or some such which takes the queued jobs and based on the current available filament reported and each print do the math to figure out how jobs using the same filament should be ordered for minimizing what's left on a spool when the total filament needed is greater than what's available
- similar to above but button / UI would be available in a project when linked to folders. Don't think this is feasible though since you don't know what each job is going to use filament wise
Alternatives Considered
Continuing to keep better track of available filament and print jobs given amount of filament used
Feature Category
Print Queue & Scheduling
Priority
Would improve my workflow
