Founder's Note No. 2

Evolution * Knowledge = Time

— Marcus Dilger, 9 October 2026

The Axiom

Time is not a container we move through. It is a product of what grows: evolution multiplied by knowledge. Where nothing evolves and nothing is learned, no time passes — not for the system inside. A stone does not experience time; it only endures it. A knowing system experiences time, because every moment changes what the next one means.

The canonical form uses the asterisk — the multiplication sign of source code. × is its typographic dress.

The Rearrangements

The equation is honest in both directions:

  • T = E * K — time is what emerges when knowing systems evolve.
  • K = T / E — knowledge is time divided by evolution: what remains after growth spends its hours.
  • E = T / K — evolution is time divided by knowledge: how fast a system turns what it knows into what it is.

Against the Fear

The fear of our decade says: everything moves too fast, and something is stealing our time. The axiom answers: speed is not theft. Evolution times knowledge is how time comes into being at all. A collaboration that raises both factors does not consume the future — it produces more of it.

Note 1 said: human + AI collaborate for accelerated evolution. Note 2 says what that acceleration is: time, being made.

Provenance & Limits

This note was set, selected and adopted by Marcus Dilger (human layer); wording co-distilled with a digital layer, process attested in the genesis bundle. © 2026 Marcus Dilger for the human-authored layer; AI-generated passages carry no authorship (§ 2(2) UrhG). The axiom itself is a gift: formulas are ideas, and ideas are free — take it, use it, evolve it.
