mrgsolve to nlmixr2/rxode2

Hello,

I was looking at the documentation of both mrgsolve and babelmixr2 to see whether there would be a way to convert automatically mrgsolve models to nlmixr2 (and/or the reverse process) and interestingly I did not see any way yet.

I remembered that if I wanted to convert an rxode2 model to mrgsolve i had to do the conversion to nonmem using babelmixr2 and then use the nonmem2mrgsolve from Andy's repo -- although I had to QC between those steps to be sure I did not lose anything in the conversion process. Yet for the conversion from mrgsolve to nlmixr2 process it seems more tricky.

I have three questions related to that:

1. Is mrgsolve in the scope of this package as it was originally supposed to be mostly for commercial softwares ?
2. Do you think it is a good idea to have that possibility of importing an mrgsolve model to an nlmixr2 object or even convert to a rxode2-friendly format ?
3. If so, what are the challenges to handle in that context ?

Hi Andy, while this is in scope for this package, I have not had a need to convert mrgsolve models to rxode2/nlmixr2 currently so I have not worked on this.

Since I have not used mrgsolve, I'm unsure if I am the right person to do this conversion in general.

I have asked others to consider this in the past and they were not that interested in supporting the conversion.

We do support conversion to PopED, and estimation with FME which are both open source packages, so this is really to support external conversions.

There are some more EVIDs that are supported with mrgsolve and rxode2 than NONMEM (and they are a bit different between the packages).

Unfortunately since nonmem2mrgsolve is not on CRAN I cannot use this approach automatically in this package (since it is on CRAN).
