This exists however is appears to no longer be maintained. I attempted to install it but didn't have any luck getting highlighting to work correctly.

oh hey! I wanted to chime in to say I was unaware of this plugin and made this instead: https://github.com/0xteddybear/noir.nvim

it reuses rust's treesitter grammar and uses aztec-nargo instead of bare nargo. I imagine I could PR those settings into this repository, however I'm curious as to what's the maintainer take on:

• using lua vs vimscript
• using treesitter instead of sytaxexprs. While it's more performant and richer, it introduces a big dependency.
• differences in rust vs noir I could've missed

as for the lsp configuration, I imagine it being less controversial since we could configure both and let users enable whichever they want

Looking forward to contributing to this more 'official' plugin. The noir-nvim venn diagram intersection is too small to have competing plugins 😁

We would not use aztec-nargo in a noir-lang exclusive tool. I would desire a separate tool if aztec specific tooling were being used directly. If it is purely a configuration where users can choose their nargo path then that is fine.

A contributor did make a Noir grammar for treesitter https://github.com/tsujp/tree_sitter_noir. It seems we could use that instead of Rust's treesitter. Even if it is generally known to be more performant, it would still be nice to see some performance benchmarks from a switch to treesitter in any PR.
