The Limitations

Radial Velocity Method

The Radial Velocity method (also known as Doppler spectroscopy) is another highly successful indirect technique used to discover exoplanets. While transit photometry looks for changes in a star's brightness, the Radial Velocity (RV) method looks for changes in a star's movement.

It relies on a fundamental principle of physics: planets do not just orbit their stars; instead, both the planet and the star orbit a common center of mass.

How It Works: The Stellar "Wobble"

Limitations of Radial Velocity
