The OGC® GML Application Schema - Coverages - GeoTIFF Coverage Encoding Profile specifies the use of CIS 1.0 coverage types to be deprecated. We should define a new profile based on CIS 1.1 GeneralGridCoverage.
The GeoTIFF encoding profile notes about PixelIsArea also suffer from moving origin at different resolutions and mismatched envelope / extent / domain, and do not match the proposal in #6 to properly distinguish between ValueIsPoint / ValueIsArea in CIS 1.1. In particular, the proposal solves clashes and inconsistencies from not being able to describe the actual extent of the data, and being able to retrieve both a map and a coverage from the same OGC API - Common - Part 2 "collection".
Since this is defined for the GMLCOV coverage classes that may be deprecated, perhaps that is not a major issue. We probably need a new version of the GeoTIFF encoding profile for CIS 1.1 because this profile requires one of the types to be deprecated anyways.
