Looking at SMB support, since a couple of issues have popped up recently.

On OpenZFS VM, share E: on smb, add user lundman will full permissions.

Mount smb://...../E on macOS.

View files on root, OK
View files in lower dataset "data", OK.
Create directory "untitled folder" on root, OK 
Rename directory to "fromSMB" on root, OK 
Copy file to "fromSMB/pippin.jpg", OK
Create directory "untitled folder" on lower dataset "data", OK 
Rename directory to "fromSMB" on lower dataset "data", FAIL -> Name is "data\fromSMB" 
Create directory "untitled folder" on lower dataset "data", OK 
Copy file to "untitled folder/pippin.jpg", OK

So looks like rename is a bit broken.

OK SMB works better, and added shareSMB support (minimal). There is one strange bug I have been unable to work out why. If you share the pool / drive, say BOOM / E:, that works. If you share a lower dataset, BOOM/lower E:/lower, then access to BOOM_lower will give you an error.
If you happen to know a directory inside BOOM/lower, say "hello" then accessing BOOM_lower/hello/ works. So it is only the root of a sub-dataset. Most peculiar.
