As we are refining TindETS' plan, I wanted to float an idea for a new profile display option that could make the app more inclusive and appealing to users who value privacy or want to connect on a deeper level before revealing their profile pictures. Below are the details and questions to consider:
🤔 The Idea:
Profile Picture Privacy Mode
Users can choose to "hide" their profile picture until both people are matched.
Alternatively, users can have the choice of when to reveal their profile picture after a match is made.
Key Mechanic:
If a user opts to hide their profile picture:
They will only be matched with others who are also hiding their profile picture.
While in this mode, they cannot view profile pictures of suggestions or matches until/unless pictures are mutually revealed.
🎯 Benefits:
Fosters Connections Beyond Appearances: Encourages users to focus on bios, interests, and conversation before judging based on looks.
Adds a Layer of Privacy: Makes TindETS more accessible to people who may be hesitant to share their image publicly.
Mutual Consent: Puts control in the hands of users to decide when and if they want to reveal their picture.
🤔 Questions to Consider:
User Experience:
Would this mode add meaningful value to the app, or could it complicate the experience?
Should users be able to switch back and forth between private and public modes, or should it be locked for fairness?
Matching Algorithm:
How should we adjust our matching logic to ensure a fair experience for users in Privacy Mode?
Should "hiding" users only be suggested to other "hiding" users, or should this be optional?
UI/UX Design:
How should we indicate hidden profile pictures in lists or chats?
What’s the best way to guide users through the process of revealing their pictures after matching?
Potential Concerns:
Could this reduce the number of matches for hiding users?
Would users feel frustrated if they don’t see profile pictures upfront?
Implementation Complexity:
Are there technical challenges to consider, like ensuring the feature is fair and doesn’t bias the matching system?
🗳️ Let’s Discuss!
I’d love to hear your thoughts:
Do you think this feature fits TindETS’s vision?
What potential challenges or improvements do you see?
How should we prioritize or implement this in our roadmap?
Let’s collaborate to make TindETS even better for everyone! 🚀
