Play Spotify playlist in the ordering of Date added

When I add a new album to my existing playlist, I would like to come home and have the album play. But when triggering the playlist, it always starts with the oldest songs, not the most recent added. Is there a possibility to add this?

You can sort by "Position (descending)"

This doesn't seem to work. I have the lastest version - Music Assistant 2.8.5.

• It doesn't matter how I sort within MA, it always starts with the order of how it was added to the Spotify playlist.
• Inside Spotify, the only thing I can do to change the ordering is to manually select the last tracks and drag them up but that is tedious to do each time.
• I tried both Spotify URI link and direct MA playlist name.
• I also tried different ways of ordering but it always starts with the same song.

What am I doing wrong?

• Installed Music Assistant BETA 2.9.0b8
• I change the ordering inside MA, also try to change in Spotify, results are the same, ordering is not different.
• I created a playlist from MA into Spotify but that didn't make a difference either.
• Also: Spotify respects the ordering of the album. E.g. so that the album number ordering is respected, while MA reverses the album order.

You dont need to post screenshots. I believe you are running the beta. Still I cant reproduce this. Let me break this down into a step by step

1. Navigate to the playlist view
2. Find a playlist from Spotify
3. Click on the playlist
4. Click on the blue PLAY button
5. Observe the displayed order is added to the queue
6. Using the SORT OPTIONS icon change the displayed order of the playlist
7. Click on the blue PLAY button
8. Observe the displayed order is added to the queue

I tested with Sonos, Chromecast and Senspin players using 2.9.0b8 and the latest nightly

edit: Actually I can see if you choose an option from the PLAY submenu then the sort order is not respected. Is that what you observe as well?

• Clicking on the playlist within MA does adhere to the ordering. But I don't use that.

• I have an automation that triggers the playlist when I enter the room and for this I would like the ordering to be respected, can that be added also? It makes sense that it would follow the same ordering as the list inside the MA Playlist?

• No, I don't observe that. You mean next to play button: start radio, add all, play now?

How are you trying to set the order for the automation?

Not sure if I follow, but in the images that I posted you can see my automation.

• The only ordering that can be done inside the automation seems to be the "Shuffle" from the Mediaplayer, Music Assistant automation itself doesn't have sorting properties.
• So then sorting is only possible from within the Music assistant playlists screen where you can set the ordering and it remembers it. Or set the ordering in Spotify, but this is also not picked up. Am I missing something?

That is correct. So your title of this feature request and your initial post are not actually explaining what you want. Only the post before this one did you mention anything in the text about automations. Looking way back at the five pictures I can now see that it included some pictures of the automation views in HA but not in English so I probably focussed more on your text.

I suggest you change the title as it currently says the opposite of what you want. You have “ play…in order of date added” when you seem to actually want “Expose option in the music_assistant.play_media action to play a playlist in reverse date added order”
