Spotify seems to be quietly removing genres data, which is really annoying. |

I noticed something odd with Spotify's playlist export feature. I exported my playlist on January 10, 2026 and it had all the metadata fields I needed. Today (February 1, 2026), I exported the same playlist again and the CSV format is completely different. Removed Fields (11)
Added Fields (16)
Field Renames (2)

Hi @pavelkomarov! First, thanks for creating such an awesome tool! I've downloaded and analyzed my music many times over the years thanks to what you've built.
I noticed that my recent playlist downloads from Exportify.net contain many songs with missing "genres" data. In a recent download, only 46/100 songs contained genre data. This includes popular songs from Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, etc. However, I know that the genres for these songs exist, because songs that I downloaded years ago have genre data, but those same songs downloaded recently do not. One example if for the artist Remi Wolf - in 2024, her song genres were "indie pop, modern alternative pop", but recently, those same songs are null.
I've included a couple of files for reference "your_top_songs_2023 (Nate).csv" was downloaded in March of 2024 and all songs have genre data. "Your_top_Songs_2024 (Nate).csv" was downloded a couple weeks ago and is missing genre data.
your_top_songs_2023 (Nate).csv
Your_Top_Songs_2024 (Nate).csv
One last thing I'll call out is that I no longer have a Spotify Premium membership. However, a friend of mine is a premium member and also downloaded a .csv from Exportify, but it also had missing genre data. So it seems to occur for both user types.
If you have any spare time to look into this, that would be amazing! I understand that this may be due to changes made by Spotify, but I thought it might be worth looking into. Thanks again for building something so useful.
Cheers,
Nate
