[BUG] TA cannot view student submissions, permission denied for table submissions

Describe the bug
As a TA, I am unable to view student submissions. When attempting to open any student submission, I receive the error message "permission denied for table submissions". Login works normally and I can access course and assignment pages. This issue did not happen before and started recently.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Log into Pawtograder using SSO
2. Navigate to course CS5010
3. Open any assignment
4. Attempt to open any student submission
5. Error appears: permission denied for table submissions

Expected behavior
TA should be able to open and view student submissions for grading without database permission errors.

Workarounds
No workaround currently. This is a complete blocker. I need submission access to assign final grades to students.

This worked previously and started failing recently. I am logged in successfully and can access course and assignment pages. The failure only happens when opening submission pages. I am using a new laptop but the issue persists across fresh login, incognito mode, and multiple browsers.

Hi, thanks for reporting this issue.

I've confirmed that I'm able to sign in as your account and view submissions successfully on our end, so this appears to be a client-side session or caching issue rather than an actual database permissions problem.

I see you've already tried incognito mode and multiple browsers — thank you for that. However, I'd like to ask you to go through the following steps systematically and in order, making sure each one is done completely before moving on. Sometimes a stale session token can persist even across browsers if the SSO provider caches it, so it's important to be thorough:

1. Fully log out of everything

• Log out of Pawtograder in all browsers
• Also log out of your SSO/university account in all browsers
• This is important — if your SSO session is cached, opening a new browser or incognito window may silently reuse a stale token

2. Clear all browser data for Chrome

• Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Delete browsing data
• Select All time as the time range
• Check all boxes: Cookies, cached images/files, site data
• Click Delete
• Fully quit Chrome (not just close the window — make sure it's not running in the system tray)

3. Fresh login

• Reopen Chrome
• Navigate to Pawtograder
• Log in via SSO
• Go directly to CS5010 > any assignment > any student submission
• Let me know the exact result

4. If that doesn't work — try Firefox with a clean profile

• Download or open Firefox
• Make sure you are not logged into your SSO account in Firefox
• Log into Pawtograder from scratch
• Attempt to view a submission

The key thing is making sure both the Pawtograder session and the SSO session are fully cleared before logging back in. On a new laptop especially, it's possible the initial session was established in a bad state, and subsequent attempts may have reused the same cached credentials.

Please let me know the results after going through these steps and we'll go from there.
