Is Pieces Drive on the way out?

I've just noted that Pieces Drive is marked as legacy in the desktop app.

Pieces has always been great for me for two reasons; it's a place to put my snippets, and it provides continuity of memory when my own is impaired through multiple sclerosis.

If Drive is on the way out, that's a concern to me. I can replicate the LTM elsewhere. I pay for Pieces Pro because it's a place for both things.

Would really appreciate some clarity here so I have plenty of notice in seeing if I can find alternative options.

Hey @daveio ! Thanks for reaching out and for sharing how you’re using Pieces.

Pieces Drive is currently minimally supported, but there’s no concrete plan or timeline to deprecate it. We know people rely on it, and if that direction ever changes, we will provide advance notice and a clear path forward.

More likely than a hard deprecation, we expect Drive functionality to be folded into the main dashboard experience, where saved materials and snippets would exist as first-class items alongside your summaries & chats.

We’re still evaluating the exact direction (including options like open-sourcing components or providing guidance on building on top of PiecesOS), and nothing is finalized yet. We’re open to feedback as we work through it.

Hi @mark-at-pieces, thanks for clearing that up. I also was irritated for the same reasons as @daveio. Given how you described the situation, does it not make sense simply to remove the "[legacy]" label from the UI?

Hey @blacklevel - Yes. We will end up removing the option altogether once we merge the view into the main home view.
