[Notice] Antivirus False Positives & Security Verification #305

@ismartcoding

Description

@ismartcoding

If your antivirus flags PlainApp as a "threat," it is a False Positive. Because PlainApp requires sensitive permissions (SMS, File Management) and runs a local server for connectivity, it may trigger "heuristic" alarms in certain security software.

🛡️ The Source of Truth: VirusTotal

We use VirusTotal as the industry standard for security verification. We do not have the resources to manually coordinate with every minor antivirus vendor.

  • Check the Report: https://github.com/plainhub/plain-app/releases/latest
  • How to read it: VirusTotal aggregates 70+ elite engines (such as Kaspersky, Bitdefender, and Microsoft). If these industry leaders flag the app as Clean, you can safely ignore isolated warnings from other vendors.

📢 How You Can Help: Report False Positives

If your software flags PlainApp, please help the community by reporting it as a False Positive directly to the vendor. This is the fastest way to clear our reputation for all users:

  1. Open your Antivirus interface.
  2. Navigate to the "Detection" or "Quarantine" log.
  3. Select PlainApp and click "Report as False Positive" or "Report Incorrect Detection."

Our Policy

PlainApp is 100% open-source and privacy-focused. If you have concerns, we encourage you to audit the source code or refer to the VirusTotal report. We will not open individual investigations for specific antivirus warnings unless they are mirrored by major industry engines on VirusTotal.

This issue is pinned for visibility. New issues regarding specific antivirus warnings will be closed and redirected here.
