how to do this only on tags?

I think in the common use-case you only want to use this config for tags and not for every commit. Is there a way to do that?

I can think of two possible strategies, neither of which I've fully worked out:

• Have a travis configuration that runs on every build, then checks the $TRAVIS_TAG envvar and bails out if it's not what you want
• Do something with a deploy section to have a script run on tags only.

Can the matrix not have an "only" on some entries? Does it apply to the whole matrix? I feel like the basic use case is to have a standard environment for testing for all builds, and use this for tags only. And yeah worst case just handle everything in the scripts. The scripts already need to take care of the testing vs the building environment. I mean having this is example is great, but actually using this seems to require quite a bit of extra work :-/ Sent from phone. Please excuse spelling and brevity.
