Um den steigenden Anforderungen Recht zu geben und Langlebigkeit und Zuverlässigkeit zu garantieren, [hat RDMO sich am 19.11.2024 als gemeinnützigen Verein konstituiert](https://www.forschungsdaten.org/index.php/Gr%C3%BCndungsversammlung_des_RDMO-Vereins). Der Verein wählt einen **Vorstand**, der die strategische Führung von der Steuerungsgruppe übernimmt, überträgt organisatorische Aufgaben an eine hauptämtliche **Geschäftsstelle** und führt ein strukturiertes **Release Management** ein. Die **Vereinsmitglieder** erhalten Stimmrecht. Die **Nutzendencommunity** wird wie bisher regelmäßig informiert, kann Wünsche äußern und natürlich die Software kostenlos nutzen.
