HEIC quality

Hi all I've tried to select P3 and 16bit in Pixelmator Pro to export two high quality HEIC images for creating a dynamic wallpaper, still the quality is lowered, I can see "dithering". So I've tried to export those two images with a different format like TIFF, then drag them in Equinox and indeed the resulting dynamic HEIC has higher quality but still a little dithering is noticeable. Is it a limit of HEIC?

Any workflow hint to create the best result possibile? AM i missing something?

Got same problem with HEIC quality, but my source images are PNG and I see difference between colors for auto-theme image and original one

not an expert, but yeah, there can be some quality degradation here. Apple’s HEIC writing APIs seem to encode high-precision images as 10-bit rather than preserving a 16-bit source, so smooth gradients can show a bit of dithering/banding. i haven’t found an easy way around that on macOS yet. from what I could verify, Apple’s own HEIC/HEIF pipeline is centered around 8-bit/10-bit output.
