`BaseGlyph.layers` contains glyphs and `BaseGlyph._getLayer` returns glyph

Is this intended behavior?

Both the name and documentation implies that they should return a tuple of layers and a single layer respectively.

I think this may be: getting all the glyph objects for all the layers the glyph is in, and also getting the glyph object for the requested layer. Doc is for sure confusing here, however

Could you give me some more context on the question? glyph.layers is there for things like:

for glyphLayer in glyph.layers:
     glyphLayer.moveBy((100, 100))

And glyph.getLayer(name) is there for things like:

background = glyph.getLayer("background")
background.clear()

@typesupply From your examples I can see that @benkiel is right, that the current returns are intensional. The docs need to reflect this.
