vscode extension on NixOS: is there a way to trigger editors/code/src/bootstrap.ts to run again in order to invoke the nix-build command?

I rsync my vscode file to a different host and the symlink to the nix-store obviously don't work. What is the right incantation to run in order to trigger the bootstrapping code to run, ideally without having to uninstall/reinstall the extension every time?
