Here is our investigation, the AV report is quite random. rustdesk/rustdesk#13770. Three vendors (unrenowned) flagged RustDesk as dangerous software or a hacking tool—rather than a virus—due to its remote access capabilities. RustDesk is purely open-source software. In the hands of legitimate users, it serves as a productive remote control tool; in the hands of malicious actors, it can be misused for scams. We voluntarily removed our Android app from Google Play because scammers were misusing it. You can also paste your link to chatgpt, and ask his suggestion. |

Hello RustDesk team,
We are in the final stage of deploying RustDesk Pro (self-hosted) for internal use and performed a VirusTotal scan on rustdesk.exe.
Result:
3 / 72 engines flagged
Label: HackTool / RemoteAdmin
Most vendors report Undetected
Questions:
1.Is this detection expected / a known false positive for RustDesk?
2.Can RustDesk Pro version be considered secure and trustworthy for production use when deployed properly (self-hosted, access controlled)?
3.Is there any official clarification or guidance for security teams regarding AV / VirusTotal detections?
4.Is there any plan or possibility to reduce or clear the VirusTotal detection score (e.g. AV vendor submissions or signing improvements) to improve trust and cred
Thank you for your clarification.
