Rustdesk HBBS+HBBR / Pro = Version 1.7.1. | Upgraded to 1.7.2 - Error Still Replicating
Rustdesk IOS Client: Version 1.4.4 (Same Error)

Exact Same error. No issue until now on hyperland. X11 no issue. Currently my license is useless due to this bug. i can start session, on Hyperland i see the session begining until i type in my correct password. Once password is entered i see this error:

Login Error:
Wayland requires higher version of linux distro. Please try X11 desktop or change your OS.

Replicated Error on my IOS Client, Macbook and Other Devices.

Different Error When DE of Host goes from Hyperland to Wayland:
Switched DE on Host / Catchy Box. Switched DE from Hyperland to Wayland. I now get a new error message of (x11 expected)

Using ChatGPT 5.1 i was able to fix my issue. I had to change and add 2 enviroment flags to Lie to RustDesk to allow it to work.

1. Add XDG env vars in custom/env.conf

Open: ~/.config/hypr/custom/env.conf

Add this at the bottom:

env = XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP,Hyprland
env = XDG_SESSION_TYPE,wayland
env = XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP,Hyprland

Why here? End4 sources custom/env.conf after hyprland/env.conf, so your values win without editing the base file.

2. Add dbus + portal startup in custom/execs.conf

Open:

nano ~/.config/hypr/custom/execs.conf

Add this at the bottom:

Export Wayland + desktop vars into the systemd/dbus user environment

exec-once = dbus-update-activation-environment --systemd
WAYLAND_DISPLAY XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP XDG_SESSION_TYPE XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP

Ensure Hyprland portal backend is running (safe if already started)

exec-once = /usr/lib/xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland

If End4 already starts the portal elsewhere, double-starting usually doesn’t hurt.
If you want to be ultra-clean later, you can remove the second line once you confirm it’s already running.

3. Reload Hyprland
   hyprctl reload

If anything feels weird (rare), just log out/in once — no config “breakage” risk.

4. Quick verify

Run:

systemctl --user status xdg-desktop-portal xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland

You want to see:

I got the error. Wayland requires higher version of linux distro. Please try X11 desktop or change your OS. So, I will probably change my OS, and NO I will not hack together Waylands crap implimentation to get something as simple as a remote desktop working.
