It seems to me that there is no need for this rule.
To use unchecked arithmetic, you need an
unsafe
block, as with any function that can lead to undefined behavior.For
unsafe
blocks, we can make it mandatory to provide a justification (see the Clippy ruleundocumented_unsafe_blocks
).I expect that developers will not write
unsafe
code unless it is necessary.Therefore, this rule seems equivalent to "don't write unsafe code".
Am I missing something?
