[Principle 4. Records, agents, activities, and the relationships between them are the four fundamental concepts that constitute archival description.Permalink](https://saa-ts-dacs.github.io/dacs/04_statement_of_principles.html#4-records-agents-activities-and-the-relationships-between-them-are-the-four-fundamental-concepts-that-constitute-archival-description)

Describe how DACS does not currently meet this principle

The current commentary following the statement of the rule reads: "Information about the corporate body, person, or family that created, assembled, accumulated, and/or maintained and used the materials being described may be described in one of two ways."

Revised text should clarify that these two ways are not mutually exclusive or substitutes for one another. Decisions that make this a major revision include consideration of:

  • Text addressing how 2.7 and Part II relate to each other
  • Whether 2.7 and an archival authority record should cross-reference each other.

I expect that this will require a

  • Minor change to DACS
  • Major change to DACS
