Any chance of expanding this to get signal strength and connection info (aka ssid or tower id)?

The signal strength seems to be protected in iOS so I am not sure how successful that one will be however the SSID seems possible.

I merged the changes to support iOS and Android in commit 2a4b97d13707dfb3830074597e06721f60567b02. I added code to the BlackBerry 10 as well but that's just a guess. All of the code is untested but if you have time let me know if it works. Also, Windows Phone 8 isn't yet supported.
