The mob justice embodied in this repo brings shame on the Scala community, and is deeply disturbing.

Blog posts from disgruntled ex-lovers and anecdotal accounts (e.g. "he walked towards me") should not pass the bar to destroy a man's career and mental health.

If there was actual sexual abuse it should be raised with the correct authorities (not the Scala Center!). By publishing public accusations and taking a mob justice approach, the accuser actually harmed her chances of achieving a fair trial against the accused. This sets a terrible precedent and is hugely counterproductive.

These are the principles of due process:

  1. The right to a fair and unbiased adjudicator
  2. Advance notice of the proposed sanction and its basis
  3. The right to present a defense
  4. The right to present evidence, including witnesses
  5. The right to know opposing evidence
  6. The right to question opposing witnesses
  7. A decision based only on the evidence presented
  8. The right to representation by an advocate
  9. A record of the evidence presented
  10. Written findings of fact and reasons for the decision

Jon Pretty was not granted a single one of these provisions.

This repo should be taken down immediately.
