mathptmx vs. newtx

I try to get a minimal TeXLive setup running and did not find pacakge mathptmx directly. CTAN says

The package is part of psnfss, but is reckoned to be obsolete. Users are recommended to switch to using newtx in its place.

Should a switch to newtx be made?

Well, the requirements said, that a specific font should be used:

Font (durchgehend): Nimbus Roman No 9 L
  (ich hoffe, diesen Font können Sie auch problemlos in LaTeX einbinden, ich sende Ihnen die OTFs mit, s. Anhang) 

That's why I kept mathptmx (although the differences to newtx or TeX Gyre Termes should be small)

I would really argue for a hard switch. - For consistency.

Libre templates for the win. 2025 maybe?
