For better visibility, I'd put multiplication symbols at the places indicated with green arrows, so that it'll be clearer (similarly to the lines above and below). It *is* clear the solution isn't saying `12(k+1)`, but it would still be better with the symbols, especially on a smaller screen.

I might have removed those due to an overfull hbox error, to save horizontal space... I'll have to try and see.

If this is the case, you could maybe rewrite "make next-to-last term explicit" into "show next-to-last term", to save some horizontal space.

On another note, it would mean that all of these blue phrases have to go right a bit. I don't know much about latex aligning, but if it's too much work, I'd say to just leave it this way. It's obvious they're not supposed to be 12i and 12(k+1) anyways.
