Scripts on remote server cannot be opened through Files pane

After establishing a connection to a remote server, the file pane automatically switches to showing the files on the remote server. I can create new files, download the existing files and rename the existing files. However, I am unable to open any remote Python scripts to work with in the editor pane. When clicking on any of the files there is no reaction. What is the expected behavior? Should a new editor window be opened for the remote connection?

Hey @Sechanua, thanks for reporting. You said:

Unfortunately, that's the expected result for now. We're working to implement remote editing (see pull request #25427), but those improvements will arrive in version 6.2.0, to be released during the second half of the year.

A possible workaround is to create a local file, add the code you need to it and then run it. That should work as long as all Python packages you want to use are installed in the remote server (we're also working to allow users create remote Python environments from Spyder).

When clicking on any of the files there is no reaction.

I understand that's confusing, so I'll add a message saying that that will start working in Spyder 6.2.0.
