Description
Problem description
The current Linux environment lacks essential accessibility features for blind and visually impaired users. A fully functional Linux screen reader should be available so that users can navigate menus, dialogs, and system interfaces independently.
Sound card access is also required. The Linux environment should be able to access and use the system sound card so that all Linux system sounds are audible. This includes desktop sounds, alert sounds, and feedback sounds generated by the Linux system itself.
Additionally, audible feedback should be provided during critical system actions such as login, logout, exit, and shutdown. When the system starts or exits, users should receive clear sound cues confirming these actions.
Password fields are especially important for accessibility. When focusing on a password field, the Linux screen reader should announce that a password input is active. While the actual password characters this feedback from a real user perspective so
that accessibility concerns can be considered for future development,
documentation, or possible workarounds.
Thank you for your time and for maintaining Termux. It is a very valuable
project for many users.
Steps to reproduce the behavior.
When deleting text or typing using a corrector inside the edit box, the screen reader does not announce the changes. The user does not receive any spoken feedback while text is being removed or corrected.
What is the expected behavior?
When typing corrections, using a corrector, or selecting suggested words inside the edit box, the screen reader does not announce the entered or corrected text. The user receives no spoken feedback during this process.
