Trailing slashes not being trimmed on symbolic links

I tried rmw'ing a symlink to a directory but got an error

[andy@prometheus techs]$ rmw propack_custom/
  :error: while trying to move (rename)
  propack_custom/ -> /home/andy/.local/share/Trash/files/propack_custom -- remove_to_waste:L362
rename(): Not a directory

Removing the trailing '/' worked.
