Cannot import a recipe as an ingredient

I am using Gourmet 1.0.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.

I have a couple of recipes that use the same ingredients for a part of it, so I created a new recipe for those, and can see it in Gourmet.

I then tried to add that to an existing recipe's ingredients.

I can select the new recipe to add, but Gourmet produces an error, indicating I need to select a recipe, yet the recipe was highlighted!

I am not sure where I am going wrong, so any help would be most appreciated!

Running Gourmet from the terminal should give you the actual error message. It sounds like this might be the same issue as reported in GourmandRecipeManager/gourmand#150.

Many thanks - is there a new release to allow this to work?
Or is there a work-around - such as exporting, changing the xml and re-importing?

Gourmet is basically unmaintained for multiple years now. There is a fork named Gourmand (which my above issue link points to as well) which accepts contributions to keep the application working and where this issue has been fixed lately. There is no official release with this change yet, but pre-built Flatpak distributions are provided and you always have the option to use/install it from source. (Disclaimer: I am the current maintainer of Gourmand.)

Many thanks - I will investigate - although I am not sure I have the skills to install anything other than an available installation.
Perhaps if I knew how to modify the XML that would fix my immediate problem - before I forget!
