Saving incorrect date format does not warn you

Bug summary

I have a document type with a Date control. I enter a date in the format 01/02/20266. Click Save and Publish. No warning or validation kicks in to alert me the incorrect format and none of the date data is saved.

Specifics

The video does not show me saving and publishing, before i click off the home node to refresh the page.

Steps to reproduce

Create a doc type.
Add Date control.
Look at the content section.
Enter an incorrect date format.
Click save and publish.

Expected result / actual result

As a minimum a warning the date is not in a valid format, but feel when saving and publishing some form of warning should be given to the user about data being lost.
