Hey everyone! Thanks for taking interest in this library ❤️

I'm starting this discussion just to give ya'll the status of this project. I will update this discussion from time to time to give you a pulse, letting you know that this project is not dead. It is alive and well 😁

As of July 20, 2023....

I am taking a break from actively working on this project. The "current economic conditions" (for tech) is forcing me to focus on being a high performer at my current job in order to decrease my odds of losing it. Any extra time that I have left is spent on training myself to be ready to get another job quickly in case the need for it arise 😨

This does not mean that I will not be working on this project at all. I will still work on this from time to time and I will continue to address critical bugs/issues with urgency!

As of Jan 22, 2025....

With the current job market conditions for us software engineers (and just life in general)... I still don't have much time to work on this project despite my desire to do so. I will continue to work on issues, especially those raised by the community, whenever I get spare time 🙏

Project Roadmap changes

Anyways, I decided to modify the Project Roadmap to make the versioning of this library a bit better.

Prior to the changes I made today, it looked like this...

Why did I make these changes?

Previously, I only planned to bump the minor version after completing a particular milestone regardless of whether the new version/release contained new features or substantial changes. Since I don't have much time to work on issues in those milestones, and I primarily work on issues raised by the community, I realize that this would result in the project version getting stuck in 0.3.x for a long long time 😅

This could result in (and may have already resulted in) confusion for users of this library that may have assumed semantic versioning (major.minor.patch) is in use 😓

Now, I will be bumping the minor version if the release contains new features or substantial changes (starting with 0.3.2 -> 0.4.0).

⚠️ Proper semantic versioning will still NOT be followed prior to version 1.0.0. This means that minor version bumps may contain breaking changes. I do not want to bump the major version above 0 until I have completed all of the issues that I think are required to be completed prior to the 1.0.0 release (the first true professional production-grade version of the library).
