Learning is a deeply human act of discovery. It should adapt to each learner's pace, style, and curiosity — not follow a one-size-fits-all model. Technology, done right, doesn't compete with the teacher. It clears the path for them.
We also believe that the best learning systems are the ones that do not require a large budget to reach a large number of people. Scale and quality are not opposites — that tension is exactly what we design for.
The Challenges We Have Chosen
Higher education has many unsolved challenges. We do not pretend to address all of them. But three persistent gaps — ones we have studied, researched, and built around — define the scope of our work.
A good classroom begins with a good teacher. Good practice demands continuous professional development — but reaching millions of faculty without losing rigour or flexibility is a hard design problem. That is the question we experiment with in our faculty development programs.
The demand for quality education far outpaces what physical infrastructure alone can deliver. Online learning is the obvious answer — but done poorly, it creates the appearance of access without the reality of learning. How do we design systems that actually work at scale?
A degree alone is no longer enough to signal what a student can actually do. Students need direct exposure — structured internships, mentored research. But access is bottlenecked by networks and coordination capacity. Can we bypass those structural constraints?
What We Built
Government-funded faculty development at scale, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and three IITs. GuruSetu and CBPAI reach faculty across India through self-paced, rigorous, pedagogy-first programs.

We spend time with educators and students before we design — understanding their real challenges first. Everything we build is then anchored in pedagogy and evidence. Creative craft comes next, because rigour without engagement doesn't teach.
We build to clarify, not to impress. If understanding it takes effort, we haven't finished designing.
If a technology doesn't directly serve a human learning outcome, it doesn't belong in our design.
Education is always evolving, and so are we. Constant reflection and reinvention, not fixed solutions.
