Seamless applications freeze after 30 seconds

As the title suggests, when I open an app in seamless mode, it tends to freeze after a few seconds, and the window remains completely frozen until I forcefully log out. However, if I run the manual command from xfreerdp3, I have no problems. I also had this issue on a previous installation I did this spring. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

in the screenshot there's excel and powershell opened, completely frozen.
i'm currently using libvirt but i had the same issue on docker on previous installation, symptom that it is not the virtual machine's fault but WinApps itself.

After more tests I’ve noticed some interesting patterns:

• On GNOME (Wayland, Mutter) WinApps + FreeRDP seems to behave much better, with no major freezes.
• On KDE Plasma (KWin, Wayland) I regularly hit freezes or graphical glitches, especially when running the desktop at 165 Hz. At 60 Hz the behavior is a little bit stable, but still freezes.
• With 165 Hz I sometimes get graphical glitches even on GNOME, but the session keeps responding — while on KDE the window often becomes completely frozen.
• My KDE environment is heavily customized, including effects such as wobbly windows, blur, and “genie” animation. I doubt these are the root cause, but worth mentioning.
• I also use Kvantum theming and a number of KWin visual tweaks.

After several tests I can confirm that the problem is not WinApps itself but the KWin compositor.
With KDE Plasma 6, when the Better Blur effect is enabled, any WinApps window (Excel, Explorer, etc.) freezes instantly and becomes unusable.
On the other hand, running the same setup on GNOME (Mutter) works flawlessly, even for long sessions.

So at the moment the only workarounds are:

• disable Better Blur (or KWin blur effects entirely),
• or run WinApps under GNOME.

This strongly suggests an incompatibility between FreeRDP/WinApps and KWin’s blur pipeline.
Documenting this here so others don’t waste as much time as I did.
