changing default.clock.rate above default causes convolution filters to distort

Tested on .wav and .ir filters from different sources. All exhibit this characteristic. roughly +10db which causes massive distortion.

Which sampling rate value did you use and how did you set it? I have configured my pipewire server so that it changes sampling rate on the fly and things seem fine.

Some plugins have a maximum supported sampling rate. So that is something to have in mind depending on how high you are forcing the rate to be.

I tried 192000 and 96000. Diagnosed by running some videos on youtube. It seems to be random when it gets triggered. Some videos dont cause it. But most in my experience do. I also get it when streaming music. using pw-top to confirm the browser is running at that hz.

Does pw-top show your soundcard and our virtual sink at the same rate? The plugins. If they aren't pipewire is doing resampling in the middle. And the distortion could be coming from a bug in the resampling.

Hum... All the stages seem to be running at 192 kHz. So resampling should not be happening.

I wonder if the distortion you hear comes from audio clipping caused by too high signal level. This depends on the impulse file used. Some really need the autogain feature in the convolver to be enabled so the levels are tamed a little.

autogain doesnt have any effect on resolving the overblown amplification. infact, all it does with my files is increase db by about 3-4db perceptively.
