How About On an Intel Desktop Board DQ87PG? Any risk of bricking beyond the normal risk?

I have a DQ87PG motherboard and because it's foundry source is intel, they've made all the bios/uefi firmware for it, as recent as 2018 being the last update. I'm wondering if there's any risk of bricking this motherboard beyond repair by doing this mod, beyond any normal risk that comes with firmware modding. If it had it in their foundry, and have been producing their own firmware for it, does that change the process for which I'm to go about this? Or would it be the same as any other Haswell system chipset, and I'm overly worried about the whole thing? I've done some firmware modding in the past(I'm a part of the Wii homebrewing scene as a user), but with the stuff I've modded, it's a little bit more widely known and the steps are a little bit simpler. I also am curious if I do end up seeing the worst(moboard is bricked), how would I reset or recover it?

Afaik there isn't anyone who has tried ReBarUEFI on an Intel motherboard (because of how rare they are) but you could try to be the first. You should keep a backup of the stock BIOS because iirc Intel doesn't have it available for download anymore.

hey @CABLE353 , have you ever tried flashing with afuwin/afudos v3.05.04?

with the bios mod i gave, do the FDO Jumper you did before, boot up, use cmd to afuwin folder, then try to use the parameter /p /b /n /k /x /GAN (for example: afuwinx64.exe biosname.rom /p /b /n /k /x /GAN), and after it does flash, do the same but this time with /GAN only, and wait till flash finishes.

I'm not too familiar with afuwin/afudos. I was also just considering getting a bios flasher from amazon, and yes the $80 updated version. I'm also just considering an upgraded motherboard system altogether.

All right @CABLE353 , if you still want to re use the cpu and the ram, a H97/Z97 from asus/asrock should result the best :)

Ok I'll keep that in mind👍. I am however currently looking at a ground up build with a 10th gen i5 and a server board with a ton of PCI/PCIe ports from eBay, but we'll see. I think it's kind of sad that I can't get a flash to work on Intel's own hardware with Intel's own flashing software, to make Intel's own GPU work with Intel's own motherboard. You'd think they'd have better company cohesion at least for the flashing software lol. I even tried asking for(as the instructions recommend) a BIOS image with Above 4g in it from the OEM(Intel), or the necessary source code so I could program it in myself, and they told me, "all good things must come to an end." and they "Didn't have such access to company secrets." Lol🤣 as if they needed to keep secrets for something that already has known and discovered sleep state "security holes" in it.

For the sake of progress(and my stubborness) however I'll probably still get the updated SPI flasher and try out some flashes(especially because it's a good skill to have in your back pocket on a rainy day) so I'll still be active here when it arrives, but my hopes kind of sank when I looked at the official compatibility list of this project to check my chances. It seems like my board was released as is without any fat from other builds derived from the same chipset and stuff that needed to be there to make this all work better, but we'll see what a forced direct flash does, and maybe I'll be able to put above 4g in there myself somehow with the direct flash.

The thing that has been carrying my hopes this far is the fact that the board is 64-bit, and it has a PCIe 3.0 port, which I think is still a score, so in theory it should have the silicon setup for this to work, it just needs to be programmed to work.
